Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sapthagiri College of Engineering, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), one of the evergreen and core departments in the Institution was established in the year 2001, is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Department offers full-time UG programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 120, PG Programme in VLSI Design and Embedded systems with an intake of 24 and has a research center offering Ph.D/M.Sc (Engg.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering recognized by VTU, Belagavi.

The Department has well qualified, highly dedicated and experienced faculty members with expertise in Signal and Image Processing, Automation and Computer Science, Micro-Electronics, Applied Electronics, VLSI Design and embedded systems, Multimedia Communication, Information Technology, Microwave and R F Design, Design of Antennas etc. The ongoing research activities include digital image processing and computer vision, Biomedical Signal processing, communication and networking. The Department facilitates well-equipped laboratories strengthened by software's like Matlab, Cadence, Multisim, Keil, Masm, NS2 etc. and supported by ARM Cortex, FPGA, MSP 430 boards and TMS 320 DSP Processor boards for UG projects and research activities. The Department has MOU with TCS-ION through collaborations for the industrial visit, internship, workshops and job opportunities.

The Department has achieved academic milestones by securing 02 University Ranks credited to the crown of the Department. The department is proud to say that Ms. Pooja S Bhat has secured 3rd Rank at University level and Ms. Shruthi choudhary has secured 3rd Rank at University Level.

The Department is headed by Dr. H C Sateesh Kumar, received his B E degree in Electronics Engineering from Bangalore University. His specialization in Master degree is Bio-Medical Instrumentation from Mysore University. He received his Ph D in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangalore University. He has 24 years of Teaching, research and administrative experience. He has over 40 research publications in refereed International/National Journals and Conference Proceedings. His area of interest is in the field of Signal Processing and Communication Engineering. He has guided more than 50 UG and more than 15 PG Projects, currently Guiding 3 research Scholars in the area of Image Processing. He is the Member of Board of Examiners of various Institutions. He has chaired sessions in many National and International Conferences. He is the life member of Institution of Engineers (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and Indian society for Technical Education. The Department has 24 faculty members, 2 Professor, 4 Associate Professors, 18 Assistant Professors and 1 Lecturer of which 4 are doctorates, 9 are currently pursuing Doctoral degree.

The students of our department are carrying out their Internship programmes at various Industries like Robert Bosch, ISRO, BEML, BEL, BHEL, ABB, Cranes Software HAL, TCS-ION, etc., The students of the Department are placed in various esteemed organizations such as Robert Bosch, Wipro Technologies, Tech Mahindra, NTT data, Accord, Mphasis, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, L & T InfoTech, IBM, UNISYS, Sonata software, Odessa Technologies, CGI, VIT InfoTech, Amazon, Indian Army, Indian Navy and many more with good package.
