The Information Science and Engineering Department had its beginning in the year 2001 with an intake of 120 students, and is one of the pioneering departments at Sapthagiri College of Engineering. The Department has well qualified and dedicated faculty members, who always put in their best efforts to ensure that quality education is imparted to students. The Department will be striding in the progressive path to achieve excellence in academics and research activities. Apart from the qualified faculty and staff, the Department has state-of-the-art laboratories and latest software’s. Students are thoroughly trained in computer programming for engineering applications to meet the challenges of the IT industry. The prime goal of the department is to produce highly resource full, knowledgeable and competent IT professionals with human values, who can be readily acceptable by the industry. The Department is regularly conducting conference/workshops/expert lectures in order to motivate and encourage students to achieve academic excellence. The Department invites eminent personalities from renowned industries and research organization for interaction with students and faculty. The Department has established a reputation for its excellent results and placements. Students of ISE have bagged university ranks right from the inception of the Department and also bagged several gold medals from reputed university for their outstanding performances The Department is headed by Dr. H R Ranganatha who has served in field of teaching for about 27 years in various capacities at various institutions in India and abroad including university of Garyounis, Bengazi, Libya and Adama-University, Ethiopia. He has participated, presented papers and chaired sessions at various conferences in India and abroad universities, also is member of several professional bodies like Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Computer Society of India (CSI). Dr H R Ranganatha has completed Doctor of Philosophy from Jain University Bangalore. And his areas of interest include ad-hoc network, wireless mesh networks, wireless sensor networks and mobile communication. He has published several papers in journals and conferences.
